Forklifts could raise extremely heavy objects since they have a counterweight on the back of the forklift. The giant counterweight gives balance to the lift truck so the machine doesn't tip over when carrying heavy loads. Forklifts are rated based on their load capacity. A small forklift which can lift 1800 kilograms weighs approximately 4000 kilograms, which is equivalent to two full-size pickup trucks. The largest forklifts could carry stuff as heavy as 36,000 kilograms.

Considerations
In operating a forklift, there are lots of safety issues. For example, travel in reverse when driving down a ramp. You should also haul a load in reverse if the load interferes with vision and is bulky. Operators should be familiar with how to mount the lift safely using the "three-point stance." This includes putting the right hand on the back of the seat, while gripping the upright of the safety cage with the left hand and placing the left foot on the step.
